HANOHILL FARM. PROFESSIONAL TRAINING AND BOARDING.

Training & Lessons
Susan Oppenlaender is the owner/operator of Hanohill Farm and has many years of professional riding and training experience. After several years as a hunter/jumper rider, and realizing that the jumping was so much easier when the flat work is done correctly, she transitioned to dressage. She met the late Walter Zettle and trained under his watchful eye for over a decade. He was kind, compassionate, and empathetic to the horses and taught his students to be the same. When errors in training occured he would always say, "it is never the horses fault", and "any horse can do dressage with proper training and encouragement".
Susan caters to the adult amateur on an as-need basis — perfect for those riders who don't want full training board, but would prefer a couple of lessons a week in a safe and non-judgemental environment. Susans' training style emphasizes proper ground manners and proper safe riding techniques.

"For many years, I boarded my horse at Hanohill Farm and it was a most enjoyable experience. I took many lessons on my horse, with Susan as my coach. I always felt in good hands with her, as she understood my capabilities as a rider and those of my horse. I enjoyed my lessons immensely, always trusting her expert knowledge and her ability to keep me and my horse safe. Her barn was a second home for me and I always enjoyed going. I eventually left to bring my horse home to my farm, but I still miss the connection that I had with Susan and her barn and have maintained a good friendship with her over the years."
